See, Click Fix: Skin Patches On Retail Drive In Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Barely 8 o'clock on a Monday morning, and Alan Luna's Public Works crew is patching some of the problems we pointed out on Retail Drive. One of our viewers on See, Click, Fix reported potholes at the intersections with Commercial and Putman and in between.

"During the winter months, the roads freeze," said Luna. "The water gets under, props up the asphalt and it thaws out during the day and then it freezes again. It goes under and then when cars run over it, it causes the asphalt to break up, and then we have to come out and fix them.

Luna's crew is one of four in Huntsville. They've been busy lately patching potholes and skin patches, which is what Luna calls most of these.

"Not deep enough for a pothole," said Luna. "But still a problem. Right after the winter months, we're doing 75 to 100, maybe 125 a day.

After two hours' work, Luna's crew fixed 20 skin patches on Retail Drive. Now, they're fixing other problems on our list.
