Boaz High School senior earns college degree before diploma

BOAZ, AL (WAFF) -

You can often find Star Student Sarah Haygood in the Yearbook office at Boaz High School, after all she's the editor and ultimately responsible for crafting a years worth of her classmates memories. The yearbook is just one of about a dozen activities the 18 year old senior participates in.

"It's definitely a challenge. I take it day by day. There are times where I have to look in to the future and say okay I've got this coming up I've got to work around it," she says.

Sarah is one of those students that teachers and counselors notice. The person who nominated her for WAFF's Star Student, said in the 30 years she's worked in education she's never met a student as ambitious as Sarah.

While she hasn't even graduated high school yet, Sarah has already received an associates degree from Sneed State Community College.

"I started out with on line classes the summer after my freshman year and I just kept working up to higher level classes," says Sarah

She's also been honored with numerous awards and honors including a full tuition scholarship to Auburn University.
