Valley runners host walk/run to remember Boston victims

HUNSTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Hundreds in the valley gathered in Hampton Cove Sunday afternoon to run/walk in honor of the victims in the Boston Marathon bombing.

"It's sad but when somebody does something to this country people tend to get more mad than they do upset and I think this is a great way to show people that they aren't going to keep us down and we can keep doing what we were doing before they were here," said Clare Courter.

Courter was one of hundreds who showed up to walk the three mile stretch.

Some of the organizers of the event participated in the marathon during the bombing.  They were able to make it back safely and wanted to remember the lives that were lost and those who were injured.

"As a country, we should look and stand by these kind of things and try to show support to the people that have suffered up in Boston with this whole event," said runner, Scott Pacello.  "It was a pretty major thing that happened."

The race started at 2:50 p.m. when the first bomb went off last week.
