HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The trial for a woman seen in a YouTube video spraying water on demonstrators outside of a women's clinic began Thursday in Huntsville.

She is facing two harassment charges.

Witnesses said Joyce Fecteau was the woman spraying water.

Fecteau's defense was that volunteers with the Alabama Women's Center conspired to get a reaction from her, but the city prosecutor said she harassed the volunteers.

Last December, Fecteau sprayed a liquid out of a bottle several times as volunteers walked past her in front of the clinic, which is the only facility in the area that performs abortions.

Fecteau is well known to the volunteers. She is pro-life and is often protesting abortion. She told police it was water. Today, an officer testified that he asked her to spray him and it was water.

Her defense said the volunteers goaded her into spraying her while they recorded the incident so they could bring charges against her. Her lawyer said she was aiming at burning sage that a volunteer was carrying.

"Somebody of ordinary sensibilities would realize that she was simply trying to dilute the smoke, and she's been told that sage has caused her health problems," defense attorney Trent Garmon said.

The trial is set to resume on April 26.
