HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

First responders are learning how to stay safe when responding to an accident involving an electric or hybrid vehicle.

Police, firefighters and EMT's took part in a safety training course in Huntsville Wednesday.

The purpose of the training was to make them aware of certain things when dealing with a hybrid or electric vehicle.

The course also taught them what to do and what not to do. The workshop was hosted by the Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition and Drake Technical College.
