FLORENCE, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama held a 2-1 lead after the first inning but Lion pitchers gave up nine more runs as the Lions dropped a 10-4 decision at Mike Lane Field to Montevallo.
With the loss, the Lions are now 22-18-1 overall, while Montevallo improved to 27-15.
Montevallo got a run in the top of the first before UNA answered with two in the bottom of the first. Mathew Tittle walked and Josh Cyr doubled. Dylan Boston forced in a run with a ground out and Josh Carpenter had an RBI single.
The game remained 2-1 into the fifth when Montevallo scored four to take a 5-2 lead. The Falcons then got four more in the sixth and one in the ninth for the win.
UNA got single runs in the sixth and ninth innings.
Riley Sanderson (2-3) took the loss for UNA, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Five UNA relievers allowed a combined six runs on eight hits with six walks and one hit batter.
