HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The man convicted of assaulting a Huntsville police officer wants out of jail. Samuel Ward appeared in court Wednesday morning.

Ward wants a judge to grant him bond while he appeals the conviction.

He also faces an attempted murder charge for allegedly shooting at police during a separate incident. Ward's bond was set at $120,000 in that case.

Prosecutors now want it to be revoked in light of the assault conviction. The judge is expected to make a ruling after April 24th.
