Tuscaloosa police to review security before A-Day

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

The Tuscaloosa Police Department and University of Alabama officials are going to review their security protocol before this weekend's A-Day game.

Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson and Sgt. Thompson addressed the Tuscaloosa City Council Public Safety Committee Meeting on Tuesday afternoon. A synopsis of the meeting included this update from the Tuscaloosa Police Department:

"Due to recent events in Boston, MA, TPD will be meeting with the University of Alabama officials to review security protocols before the A-Day game events and the upcoming football season. The security protocols will also be reevaluated for the upcoming Mayor's Cup on April 27th."

Chief Anderson confirmed today there will be more officers out at the Mayor's Cup 5K on April 27.

He declined to elaborate on the security plans for UA's A-Day this Saturday, saying it is the university's event and the police force just provides assistance.
