HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The future of unmanned aircraft systems is the focus of a new agreement between UAH and the Army.

A signing ceremony took place on the campus of UAH Tuesday afternoon.

The university and the Army's Unmanned Aircraft Systems Management Office signed a memorandum of understanding.

The agreement is to explore opportunities for collaboration to promote the development of the next generation of unmanned aircraft systems. It also intended to further the education of young engineers.

"We're trying to grow engineers. We'd like these engineers to come work on redstone for us some day and we're excited about the opportunities we have here today," said project manager, Col. Timothy Baxter.

The goal is also to develop courses at the graduate level and undergraduate level in the field of unmanned aircraft.
