DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Decatur Police are looking for a vehicle that neighbors tell them they saw leaving a home where a woman was later found dead. The witnesses also gave investigators a description of the man driving the car.

31-year old Anna Chavez's body was found Monday afternoon in a bedroom in her home in the 1300 block of 15th Avenue. Police said neighbors told them they spotted what looked like a black four-door Honda Civic drive out of the driveway that morning.

Witnesses said the car's rear passenger-side tire was flat, and that it had red-pinstripe trim with two identical yellow bumper stickers on the back. Investigators said Chavez's six-year-old son discovered her body in their home. He had just gotten off of the bus, coming home from school.

"That, of course, may live in his memory forever. And we really need the public to help us. Anyone who has lost a relative can understand how much we, and they, would like to bring this person to justice," said Decatur Police Captain Nadis Carlisle.

Carlisle said the man driving the car was Hispanic, in his mid to late 20's, about 5'5 to 5'9" with a medium build. Witnesses said he had a script-style tattoo on the side of his neck, something written in black letters. They also said he has a dark skin complexion. He was wearing a knit cap, but investigators believe he has short hair.

Chavez leaves behind a husband and two children. An autopsy was performed Tuesday. Police have not released an official cause of death.

Investigators are asking that anyone with information concerning this case to call the Decatur Police Department at (256) 341-4660.
