FRANKLIN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A domestic violence murder case was upgraded to capital murder in Franklin County. It will now go before a grand jury.

Police found 25-year-old Lesley Plott dead in a ditch from an apparent knife attack back in February.

Officers found her along North Jackson Avenue in Russellville.

Investigators said Plott's estranged husband, Angel Campos Nava, was in a vehicle nearby with self-inflicted stab wounds.

He has since recovered from his injuries and was charged with murder.

Plott's family said they are doing the best they can, but they said it's still hard to believe she's gone.

Plott left behind four children, two boys and two girls.

Family and friends said they miss her smile the most and are taking things one day at a time.

"It's been really hard because I'm used to seeing her every day and talking to her," said Lesley's sister, Selena Plott.

"She was a wonderful mother. She put her children first always," said co-worker Donna McKinney.
