HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Boeing's was the first building to open at the Redstone Gateway complex, located next to Gate 9.

The new facility will be home to 1400 Boeing employees as they work on NASA's Space Launch System.

Congressman Mo Brooks and Mayor Tommy Battle praised the new location, saying its proximity to the arsenal strengthens partnerships for the city, for defense, and for jobs.

"This project was done so that we could have a place for people to work, so that we could have a place for jobs in the future, so that we could have a place to grow our job market," Battle said.

Boeing employees will move into the complex's second building later this year.
