COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The day we met up with Stacie Puckett, a junior at Colbert County High School, she was waiting her turn to compete in an academic competition. She said she loves a challenge.

She is probably one of the rare students you will meet because summer break is a bore to her.

The straight 'A' student's dedication to her education already has universities vying for her attention.

"I have a lot of good offers. I've got some letters from Vanderbilt and from Alabama and recently got one from West Point," she said.

Stacie is not making any decisions yet, but she plans to attend a college where she can continue her love for studying science.

"I was going to do forensics, but then a few years ago I started getting to where whenever I see blood I pass out, so I'm thinking about doing something with psychology," Stacie admitted.

Stacie said there is a secret to her success in school.

"It's a lot of time management, balancing everything," she said.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
