GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Guntersville city officials announced on Friday an Alabama-based company is relocating its corporate headquarters and distribution center to the city.

Duckett Fishing has purchased land at the Conner Island Industrial Park, and construction is expected to begin almost immediately.

Because the company builds fishing rods, local officials say it will be a great fit for the area.  It will also be the second national Bassmasters Classic champion to live and work in the area.

Winner of the 2007 Bassmasters Classic, Boyd Duckett, is in the process of moving Duckett Fishing from Demopolis to Guntersville.

Duckett Fishing began in 2009 and is the maker of Micromagic, White Ice, and Macromagic fishing rods.

The company is expected to employ six to eight people.

Plans for the development were approved this week by the city's planning board.

"He's ready to start right now.  They've been doing some clearing, but he couldn't really do anything until, as far as construction of the site, until the planning board had approved that," said Guntersville Economic Development Director, Grant Demuth.

Demuth said the company should be up and running by the end of the summer.
