A former Wilson County sheriff's deputy already jailed on federal charges has pleaded guilty on multiple offenses he committed while serving as a law enforcement officer.

John Patrick Edwards, of Mount Juliet, was sentenced last year to 18 years in federal prison for obstruction of justice after he tried to sell information about a federal drug trafficking investigation.

Now, Edwards has pleaded guilty to 10 other counts, including three counts of money laundering, five counts of theft, one count of tampering with evidence and one count of official misconduct.

Prosecutors said Edwards will serve an effective sentence of 12 years for these charges, consecutive to his federal sentence.
