Huntsville Havoc defenseman Matt Smyth will miss the remainder of the playoffs with a lower body injury that he suffered in the 2-1 overtime loss to Pensacola on Tuesday night.
He becomes the second player injured in the playoffs joining forward Lyle Laughlin, who broke a bone in his right hand. Per SPHL rules, the team can replace add one player after losing the second with an injury.
The Havoc signed defenseman Curtis DeBruyn who just finished his collegiate career at the University of Alabama-Huntsville. The Calgary, Alberta native played in 119 games from 2009-2013 and scored four goals and recorded 20 assists.
The Havoc will look to even their best-of-three series with Pensacola on Friday night on Breland Homes Ice at Propst Arena. The puck drops at 7:30. Game three, if needed, will be back in Pensacola on Sunday evening.
