Freshman Max Schrock not seriously injured in collision with Citadel player

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Following a scary collision during Tuesday night's game against the Citadel, Gamecocks freshman second baseman Max Schrock is expected to be okay, but has been diagnosed with a slight concussion.

A Citadel player slammed into Schrock at the top of the 3rd inning at first base during a sac bunt play.

Schrock was taken out of the game immediately.

After receiving an X-ray, Schrock was cleared and no fracture was found in his neck. He will, however, have to deal with a stiff neck for the next few days.

South Carolina did need a bit of late-game heroics to put away the Citadel as the Gamecocks finally sealed the victory thanks to a walk-off home run.
