MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) - Alabama Governor Robert Bentley signed the Women's Health and Safety Act Tuesday, a measure that places new requirements and restrictions on abortion clinics.
Bentley was joined at the signing by Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey and House Speaker Mike Hubbard.
Opponents of the new abortion law have said it aims to put abortion clinics out of business and will be challenged in court like Mississippi's law.
Bentley has said the bill will make it safer for women to have abortions, even though he's personally opposed to abortion.
