MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Madison County school leaders are promising a plan to deal with severe overcrowding at Sparkman High School, even in the midst of disagreements over how to do it and pay for it.

Monday night, parents, students, members of the school board, and Superintendent Dr. David Copeland talked about the issue in a round table discussion.

Some parents are pushing for a new property tax district to raise money for a new school for the Monrovia Middle School district.

For the time being, Copeland said the $30-million cost of a new school is beyond what the school system can afford.
