MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The Marshall County Commission approved the funding a new EMA smartphone app.

It is expected to cost about $1500.

EMA officials said the app will help you know what is going on during a disaster.

Officials said it will help notify you about EMA events, storm information, and recovery after a storm.

"This app will allow us to get more accurate, credible information out to the public as quick as possible, and that's what we want to try to do," said Marshall County EMA Director, Anita McBurnett.

The app should be available in three to four weeks.
