WINONA, TX (KLTV) -

The fire started at around 3:00 on Sunday morning in the 200 block of Kay Street in Winona. Two adults and eight children were inside the house when the fire started. Two of the children were family friends who were spending the night.

10-year old Colby is one of the grandsons Ricky Watson lost in the fire.

"He was just a good ol' boy, a good boy, just a boy. He liked to play, he liked to ride his bike, he was really smart in school," Watson says.

Watson says his other grandson, 6-year-old Riley and 4-year-old Jax Davidson, a family friend who was spending the night, also died in the fire.

He considers Jax a grandson, "He called me "paw" too. He was going to be a ball player one day. He was a very good kid."

Watson says his daughter, her husband, their six children, and two family friends were inside when the house caught on fire.

He says he went inside the burning home, "There was so much smoke everywhere and so I got on my, I was just in my boxers, nothing else and I got on my belly and I crawled in there."

Watson says his daughter did the same, "She went back in there and tried to get her other ones, you

Watson says he rescued his grandson Colton, who is being treated for burns in Shreveport. He  He says his daughter is being treated for smoke inhalation at a Tyler hospital but everyone who made it out is going to be ok, physically.

Brian Dear, the father, has been released from a Shreveport hospital. His wife, Heather, is supposed to get out of the East Texas Medical Center ICU today and be moved to a normal room. She is being treated for carbon monoxide poisoning.

Watson says he knows the children are in a better place and hopes they are looking down on him and know one thing, "Don't y'all ever forget that paw loves y'all."

And he says that will never change.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Family members say it could have been started by a candle.

A donation fund for the Dear family is set up at the First National Bank of Hughes Springs, Winona branch. You can also donate food, clothes, and money to the family at the First Baptist Church of Winona.

These are the clothing sizes the family needs:
