To either keep or fire Carol Wicks as Director of Animal Services will be a decision made by the city council. If it comes to that, it would be put on a Decatur City Council meeting agenda for further review. So far, it is not on the agenda for their next meeting on Sep 2. If the issue comes before the city council, that's when we hope to find out why Mayor Kyle decided to put Wicks on paid administrative leave. He will not comment on it, saying he cannot talk about a pending personnel issue. HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Losing a baby during childbirth has to be one of the most horrific losses you can imagine. An Alabama woman experienced it and is now working with Huntsville Hospital officials to help ease some of that pain for others.

In November of 2010, Kassidy Whitaker, of Arab, had a son who was stillborn. She said her family's grieving process at Huntsville Hospital was far too public.

"My family had to sit in the waiting room with happy families and it wasn't fair to either group," she said.

Whitaker saw the physical and emotional need for families to grieve and recover in private.

"For my husband, it would have been very good because he had to sleep in a hospital bed that night cause I was put in the ICU," she said.

Hence the birth of the Dinosaur Room. The name dinosaur comes from her oldest son, who said the baby looked like a baby dinosaur in the ultrasound pictures. It stuck, as did her idea.

She partnered with the Huntsville Hospital Foundation to build the room, complete with a sleepover bed, a shower, room, and privacy - as well as keepsakes, like the baby's blanket, cap, and stuffed toy. There's also important information families don't stop to consider.

"A lot of families haven't prepared to bury a baby. We're helping families in that way as well," said Whitaker.

She is trying to raise awareness and money for the room and the project. They have a fundraiser scheduled for June 8 - a baby dinosaur marketplace on the courthouse square in Huntsville with the vendors' booth rental going to help the cause.
