HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Roads surrounding Hobbs Island in South Huntsville on Wednesday were closed for several hours after a train car went off the railroad tracks at Cap Adkins.
The incident happened just before 12 p.m., when police said they were expecting the surrounding roads to be closed for about eight hours.
The train went off the tracks while workers were switching out train cars.
Officials brought in a crane to put the train car back on the track, but it was later learned the train car was too heavy for the one crane. They later brought in a second crane to help lift the train car.
No one was injured during the derailment. Officials are still investigating what caused the train to lose control and veer off the tracks.
