A bill placing stricter regulations on abortion clinics in Alabama is heading to the Governor's desk. The House of Representatives voted late Tuesday night to pass the bill, following a 22-10 Senate vote to approve the Women's Health and Safety Act.
"I have a long record of being against abortion, but the federal courts the federal governments says that it's legal," said Sen. Scott Beason, (R) of Gardendale. We just want to make sure it's as safe as possible."Opponents say most of Alabama's licensed clinics can't meet the requirements and say the intent of the bill is to end abortions in the state.
