HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Everyone in the Tennessee Valley is being called on to help tackle autism.

Organizations around the world are observing Autism Awareness Month with awareness programs and fundraisers.

The group Autism Speaks said the condition affects one in every 88 children.

So far, there is no medical detection or cure.

In the Tennessee Valley, the Autism Society of Alabama is hosting the 2013 Walk for Autism on April 13.

The walk is at Hampton Cove Middle School.

It is $25 a person or $30 on the day of the walk.

Students and staff at Calhoun Community College are doing their part to bring awareness to autism too.

The campus is lighting up blue for the entire month.

The dean for student affairs said buildings at the Decatur and Huntsville campus will glow blue starting Tuesday night.
