MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Limestone County is the latest to vote to pay for resource officers in all schools.

Marshall County is still looking to make that happen.

Marshall County Superintendent Tim Nabors said there are good things about Limestone County's plan and others that won't really work for them.

Marshall County is trying to figure out a way to put officers in all of their schools.

Currently, they have five in various schools but need 10 more for an officer in all schools.

Nabors feels using retired police officers or military is a great cost cutting proposition.

Nabors said they could not be paid as full time because it would infringe on their retirement, but he is concerned if they could find 10 retired police officers willing to do the job.

And that still leaves the issue of money when it comes to getting 10 more officers.

"We're in a situation where we have five systems and we're physically strapped for money as it is.  We'll be willing to do what we can as far as helping out on the cost, but I don't think we have the luxury of putting a large amount of money into that," Nabors said.

He said a meeting date with the legislative delegation and the county commission is still not set, but he hopes it will take place soon.
