Limestone Co. outdoor warning siren damaged by lightning

ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

Limestone County Emergency Managers say an outdoor warning siren has been damaged by lightning.

The siren at the intersection of Miller Lane and Highway 251 is currently off-line.

EMA officials say they do not know when the siren will be repaired.

Emergency managers add residents should not rely on sirens during severe weather or a tornado and to stay weather aware with a NOAA weather radio.
