LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A fire that killed a Shoals couple and their nephew has been ruled arson, investigators said.

Fire investigators found evidence of gas in the home on County Road 81 in the Central Heights community.

The bodies of Sandy and Bobby Brewer were found inside the burned home March 14th. Investigators are waiting on autopsy results to determine how they died.

Their nephew, Bradley Adams, died from soot and smoke inhalation.

At first look, the fire appeared to be an accident, but fire officials said after further investigation they found new evidence inside the home leading them to suspect arson.

Investigators said they found traces of an accelerant inside the home, which is a type of substance used to intensify or speed up a fire.

Family and friends have it taped off from any public access. They have even placed a white ribbon on the gate in memory of the three people who died inside.
