FAIRFIELD, AL (WBRC) -

Fairfield police have identified the three men arrested Friday after leading police on a chase in Fairfield.

Dontrell Rooks, 18 of Birmingham, Tamarius Smith, 18 of Birmingham, and Tracy Jones (Vault), 21 of Birmingham, have all been charged with attempted murder and receiving stolen property. They are being held on a $90,000 bond each at the Fairfield Jail. The will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail, according to Fairfield Police Chief Leon Davis.

The chase began with a stolen red 2007 Chevrolet Colorado. Fairfield Police Chief Leon Davis says the vehicle was reported stolen by the owner around 12:30 a.m. from the CITGO Gas Station at 900 Milstead Road in Fairfield.

According to the victim, he left the truck running while entering the station to get a drink. When he returned, he says his truck was gone and reported that it had a .40 caliber handgun inside.

Chief Davis says an officer spotted the stolen red truck in the custody of three black males around 4:30 a.m. at the Sonoco Gas Station at 3639 Lloyd Noland Parkway. The officer informed other officers he had located the vehicle and followed it as it left the station.

The police cruiser's lights were not activated as the officer waited for back up. When the vehicle stopped at the Shell Gas Station on Allison Bonnet Drive in Hueytown, the officer activated his emergency lights. Davis says the truck attempted to elude officers and the suspects fired around four shots during the chase.

The chase ended as the truck came off the interstate on to Richard Scrushy Parkway near the Sonoco gas station where it was originally spotted by police. An officer rammed the truck with his police vehicle and it lost control.

Two men were arrested in the truck. Another suspect fled the scene; he was later taken into custody by Birmingham PD units. Two weapons were recovered from the vehicle, including the victim's weapon. Evidence in the truck confirmed that shots had been fired. No officers were injured in the incident.
