FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

A hotel in the Shoals was recognized for its continuous efforts in not only customer service, but for doing what they can to help protect the environment.

The Marriott Shoals joins nearly 50 businesses in Florence as the newest member of the city's Green Team.

Designed to promote green initiatives, the Green Team recognizes businesses and non-profit organizations who are committed to green practices.

City leaders said the hotel goes above and beyond their efforts in water conservation, waste reduction, energy conservation and more.

Hotel Manager Larry Bowser said this achievement stems from his staff working together as one to become more environmentally friendly, something Mayor Mickey Haddock said speaks volumes for their commitment to the local community.
