JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
The district attorney is asking a judge to order two men charged with dog fighting to pay for upkeep of the dogs, which are now at a shelter.
Prosecutors are asking $1500 for each person up front for daily care and veterinary expenses, then $1,000 each per month until the case is resolved.
James Allen has been arrested for dog fighting by Hollywood Police, while warrants are out for Christopher Allen's arrest on dog fighting charges.
But the district attorney's office has now filed a civil suit against the men.
Ten pit bull dogs were seized from property in Hollywood earlier in March in connection with the charges. They are currently being housed in the Scottsboro Animal Shelter.
Meanwhile a third suspect, Richard Humphrey, is charged but not named in the suit.
Police are continuing their search for Christopher Allen. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
