FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -
The man the FBI says is the Ball Cap Bandit bank robber made his first court appearance Friday morning.
Cedrick Hicks went before a judge in Lauderdale County.
Hicks walked into the
courthouse, seemingly un-phased by the seriousness of his crimes - at one point
even offering to talk on camera at the jail, but when he left it was a
different story, and he declined to comment.
Federal agents arrested Hicks Thursday in Decatur. He is suspected of robbing at least eight banks in North Alabama and Tennessee.
Hicks is currently being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center. Federal charges are possible in his case.
During Friday's hearing, Hicks' bond was set at $350,000. His attorney requested preliminary hearing for April 26.
Even though his bond is
set, if he were to make bail, he would not be able to leave because
of a federal hold.
At this time, it is unclear
whether or not the feds will pursue charges against him.
Lauderdale County District
Attorney Chris Connolly said they are working closely with federal agents to
determine their next move.
