HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Emergency crews around north Alabama are standing by, waiting for orders to go out and clear any iced over roads.
The National Weather Service gave local police, fire, and utility crews an update Thursday afternoon.
EMA workers said they do not expect a large event, but it is important that everyone gets the same message at the same time so they can prepare based on that information.
Workers will be standing by if they are needed.
"Everybody prepositions resources just in case they need to be used and then they can move them right out of the way if they didn't have to be used," said EMA Officer Paige Colburn.
EMA workers say all emergency crews have winter weather plans and procedures already in place. This meeting helps them determine which one they will use.
