DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
It took longer than expected, but the Decatur Public Library is back in business.
Mayor Don Kyle cut the ribbon for the library's grand re-opening on Thursday.
The library closed the day before Thanksgiving so workers could replace the malfunctioning heating and cooling system. The work was expected to take six to eight weeks, but it just got finished in the last few days.
"We have finally got everything done. The air conditioning is in. We're ready to go. And we missed all those folks coming in and we are ready to get started," said Sandy McCandless, the Decatur Public Library Director.
The renovations cost the city $417,000.
The library also got some new carpeting and ceiling tiles.
