The note left for a soldier's girlfriend on her windshield from a veteran is going viral on social media.

Samantha Ford posted a picture of the note that contained two $20 bills on a Facebook page Sunday.

"I noticed the sticker on the back of your car," the letter read. "Take your hero out to dinner when he comes home. Thank you both for serving. Him deployed and you for waiting."

It was signed, "United States Veteran - God Bless."

Ford, who lives just outside of Boston, according to TODAY, said the sticker on her car reads "Half my heart is in Afghanistan."

Ford said she found the note after she came out of a restaurant and it brought tears to her eyes.

Three days after the picture was posted, it had nearly 2-million "likes" and about 50,000 comments.
