ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Residents in Albertville are cleaning up after Monday's storms.
A building Highway 431 was severely damaged. The top floor of the building is home to the Albertville Masonic Lodge. Members spent Tuesday moving furniture out of the lodge after the storm ripped off the roof.
Masonic Senior Warden, David Moore, said the lodge is completely soaked and a couple of inches of water is still on the floor. The group is temporarily moving to the Boaz location until they find a permanent location to host meetings.
Below the Masonic Lodge, in the same building, is David Chaney's Country's Thrift Store. He's dealing with storm damage too, but he's taking that in stride, especially considering what type of damage the storm could have done. His stepson and wife were inside the building when the weather hit.
"They were inside when it happened and they're fine, they're in great shape," said Chaney.
Masonic members may have lost a meeting place, and David Chaney might have lost some business, but both say they don't mind spending the day on cleanup duty.
"It's just material things, we can replace it," said Moore.
"This is just material stuff. I'm just glad no one got hurt. God is good to us," echoed Chaney.
