HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A group of kids at Chaffee Elementary School in Huntsville got a big surprise on Monday.
Aubie the Tiger stopped by to read to a group of kindergarten students.
Aubie's visit was the grand prize to celebrate all the books they read.
Each student had to read at least 25 books within nine weeks, and they did it!
"The kids are excited. I think the teachers were more excited than the kids! They couldn't wait. They had been waiting, and counting down; we've been counting down for about a month," said Laura Wilson, a school teacher at Chaffee.
Teachers said the contest is a great way to get kids excited about reading.
They finished off the session with a little dance party.
