SHELBY COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
A Shelby County child is recovering from chemical burns he suffered in what investigators say was a meth lab accident.
The child's step-grandfather, Joseph Dupreist, described the boys burns as "horrible."
"A lot of facial injuries on the left side of his face. And also on his eye and on his left arm. Anybody that's experienced a burn, especially on the face knows it's agonizing," Dupriest said.
Two people, including the child's mother, have been arrested in the case. Sgt. Keith Webb with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office confirms that Brandy Shawyer, 26, is the mother of the child. She is in the Shelby County Jail on multiple charges, including chemical endangerment of a child.
Another suspect, 56-year-old Roger English, also faces drug-related charges and chemical endangerment of a child.
