GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
State Troopers and rescue crews found the body of a man struck by a vehicle Saturday night.
They said it happened at Mill Creek on Pine Island Circle and Highway 79, north of Guntersville just after 9:00 Saturday night.
Crews pulled the body of 45-year-old Keith Willoughby, a retired military man and Madison County resident, out of the water early Sunday afternoon.
Witnesses said Willougby's fishing equipment was thrown across the road when he was hit by a Jeep Cherokee driven by 51-year-old Robert Randal Sporleder of Scottsboro.
Willougby's friend Ronald Rice said they fished together all the time. He stumbled upon the accident when he saw the emergency vehicles in the area where they usually went fishing.
State Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, but do not expect charges to be filed against Sporleder.
