MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) -
Some of the Shoals law enforcement are trading in their badges for server trays.
The annual Cops and Cowboys fundraiser for the Shoals Special Olympics is being held in Florence.
Until 11 p.m. Friday, officers will serve food in exchange for tips to benefit the games.
All the money raised goes towards not only funding the local games, but helps provide buses and uniforms for those kids to attend the state games.
Officers say they don't mind the extra work to help kids, especially those with special needs.
"I've told a lot of people, if they take a few minutes, come out and see how much pleasure and how much enjoyment the kids actually get out of this, it's worth every bit of effort put into this," said organizer Lt. Mark Goins with the Muscle Shoals Police Department.
The Shoals Special Olympics games will be held next Friday in Muscle Shoals.
