CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
A man is recovering in the hospital after being shot several times during an armed robbery in east Charlotte overnight.
The call came in for a person shot around 12:30am Tuesday, but police say the victim ended up somewhere else.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said a man was robbed along Monroe Road and shot three times.
He escaped and drove several miles to a house on Amity Springs Drive. There, someone called for help.
Crime Scene Investigators taped off the black SUV he drove. Officials said the SUV had marks from at least one bullet, and the back window was shattered.
The victim was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center. His condition is unknown.
Police said the victim isn't cooperating with the investigation so it might be hard to find the gunman.
