NEW ORLEANS (KCTV) -
A Kansas City area pastor accused of molesting a young Kansas City girl is in custody in New Orleans after the FBI arrested him.
The FBI's Violent Crime Task Force arrested George Spencer, 48, on Friday. Spencer, who is a registered sex offender, is accused of child molestation and forcible sodomy of a child.
The New Orleans FBI agents worked with Kansas City FBI agents to make the arrest.
A warrant was issued Feb. 25 for Spencer in connection with an alleged attack in February 2012.
Spencer worked as an associate pastor at the Greater Works CME Church in Kansas City.
The mother and grandmother of the child involved in the 2012 incident spoke to KCTV5 last year about their heartache. The girl's family filed a lawsuit against the church, demanding to know how a rapist was allowed to serve at the church.
In 1998, Spencer was convicted of raping a girl in Leavenworth, KS. He is listed as "non-compliant" on the Kansas sex offender website for failing to register as a sex offender. Authorities in Kansas are seeking him as a result.
