DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
The Decatur city council could decide next week whether to proceed with plans to purchase the old L&N Train Depot located off Vine Street.
The council held a special work session Monday night to discuss the project.
City leaders said they plan to use part of the building to house the police department's traffic division and store evidence and records. They said the other half would be a museum.
"As far as numbers go we know what it will cost to do it. We know where the money can come from. We need to take a decision no because it is rather convoluted," said Decatur city council president, Gary Hammon.
City leaders are expected to vote on the property at the next council meeting Monday night.
