HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc continue to hold on to the eighth and final playoff spot but failed to put any distance between themselves and ninth place Augusta by dropping three of four games last week.
       
Tuesday, March 5 - Huntsville 1, Mississippi RiverKings 4

SOUTHAVEN, MS - Matthew Krahn stood on his head and made 30 saves to lead Mississippi RiverKings to a 4-1 victory over the Huntsville Havoc. Mississippi RiverKings was sparked by Tom Craig, who grabbed one goal. Craig scored short handed 14:22 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings found itself down a man on Darrell Stoddard's roughing. Henry Coxe assisted on the tally. 

Mississippi RiverKings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Huntsville to score on any of its three power plays. Mississippi RiverKings' offense was clicking better than usual and put 25 shots on goal during the game, better than the 17.1 shots per game it averages. 

Mississippi RiverKings also got points from Matt Harrington, who also had two goals and one assist and Mike MacDonald, who also racked up one goal and two assists. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Matt Whitehead, who had three. 

The Havoc excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Mississippi RiverKings was unable to stop Huntsville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Havoc eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Huntsville was led by Stuart Stefan, who scored the team's only goal. Stefan scored 9:14 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Mississippi RiverKings. Kyle Laughlin picked up the assist. Mississippi RiverKings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Dan McWhinney recorded 21 saves for the Havoc. Huntsville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. 
 
Thursday, March 7 - Columbus 0, Huntsville 1
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Dan McWhinney was superb between the pipes for the Huntsville Havoc, as he did not allow a goal in a 1-0 victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths.

Nick Lazorko's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 5:40 in the second period. Mike Gurtler picked up the assist. Huntsville pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

The Havoc put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Columbus to score on any of its seven power plays. Huntsville's offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 19.7 shots per game it averages. The Cottonmouths stifled the Havoc's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Columbus could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Cottonmouths average 2.7 goals per game. Columbus put 50 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.4 it averages per game. The Cottonmouths were led by Sam Bowles, who took six shots.

Dan McWhinney made 50 saves for Huntsville on 50 shots. The Havoc registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Andrew Loewen rejected 38 shots on goal for Columbus. The Cottonmouths incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
 
Friday, March 8 - Huntsville 3, Augusta 5
AUGUSTA, GA - The Augusta RiverHawks, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Huntsville and clinched a 5-3 victory. The RiverHawks led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Augusta's Matt Auffrey's scored at 8:00 in the third period to put the RiverHawks up 4-1.

Augusta got the win behind a great game by Kyle Watson, who had one goal and three assists. Watson scored on the power play 16:25 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Augusta. The RiverHawks earned a power play opportunity when Corey Fulton was put in the box for boarding. Alex Morton provided the assist.

Augusta excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. With 21 shots on target during the contest, the RiverHawks exceeded the 16.8 shots they average per game this year. Augusta found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The RiverHawks average 2.6 goals per game. Jason Price also scored for Augusta. More assists for Augusta came via Drew Baker and Robbie Moss, who contributed one a piece.

The Huntsville Havoc put 35 shots on net during the contest, more than the 19.3 they average per game.
Huntsville was led by Aaron McGill, who grabbed one goal and one assist. McGill scored 16:15 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Augusta. Sam Cannata assisted on the tally. Huntsville also got a goal from Danny Kaufmann as well. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Mike Gurtler, who had one.

Augusta's Moss stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The RiverHawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Dan McWhinney recorded 16 saves for the Havoc. Huntsville ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
 
Saturday, March 9 - Mississippi RiverKings 4, Huntsville 1
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Mississippi RiverKings relied on the sparkling performance of Matthew Krahn in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Huntsville Havoc. Huntsville's power play was ineffective against Mississippi RiverKings' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Kyle Lundale, who had one goal. Lundale scored 1:23 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Mississippi RiverKings. Mike MacDonald picked up the assist.
Mississippi RiverKings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Huntsville power plays. Mississippi RiverKings got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. With 37 shots on target during the contest, Mississippi RiverKings exceeded the 18.4 shots it averages per game this year.

Mississippi RiverKings also got points from Henry Coxe, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Darrell Stoddard, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Tom Craig, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Kevin Willer, who had one.
The Havoc stifled Mississippi RiverKings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 32 shots that Huntsville put on net surpassed the Havoc's average of 21.0 shots per game this season.

Huntsville was led by Paul DAgostino, who scored the team's only goal. DAgostino scored 11:04 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Mississippi RiverKings. Aaron McGill assisted on the tally.

Mississippi RiverKings' Krahn stopped 31 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-6 on the power play. Dan McWhinney made 33 saves for the Havoc on 37 shots. Huntsville ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
