Global software provider iQ for Business changes company name to align with newly launched software platform, Halo Business Intelligence. Former Nielson Company VP takes over as CEO.

Business analytics software developer iQ for Business announced today that it has changed its name to Halo Business Intelligence (Halo BI). Additionally, the company promoted its president and chief operating officer, Ray Major, to CEO. Prior to iQ for Business, Major was a senior vice president with research and information titan The Nielsen Company. Halo BI’s previous CEO, Steve Hammerslag will remain with the organization as Chairman.
Founded as an enterprise software developer and consultancy in Auckland, New Zealand in 2001, the company grew to be the country’s most successful business intelligence firm in just over five years. Riding a wave of global expansion, in 2008 it re-located its headquarters to California and opened offices in Europe, Australia and China. In 2010 Ray Major joined the company as president and oversaw the development of a new software platform, Halo Business Intelligence. The company now counts hundreds of enterprise, government and non-profit organizations as customers worldwide.
“The name change is an acknowledgement of how quickly we became recognized first as ‘The Halo BI’ company, and second as iQ for Business,” Major said. “From the time it was announced early last year, the response to the Halo product name was very positive and explaining the iQ for Business connection almost became a distraction. It only made sense to leverage Halo’s strength by aligning our company name with the product brand.”
