KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Crimson Tide has rolled out the doors of the University of Tennessee visitor center.
The group of Knoxville graduates of the University of Alabama had met at UT since the early 1970s. Fine when the building was the faculty club, say UT officials, but it's now where prospective students and their parents gather for campus tours.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/XZKe75 ) reported it was an ill-timed "Roll Tide" cheer last year that convinced UT officials the 'Bama group had overstayed its welcome. The parent of a prospective student told officials he was startled to hear it.
UT spokeswoman Karen Simsen said folks at Alabama wouldn't like UT alums singing "Rocky Top" in their admissions office and the university wants its visitor center to be "all about UT."
