HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Police
held a safety checkpoint in Huntsville on Triana Boulevard, just north of Drake
Avenue in the overnight hours early Friday.
Huntsville Police set up random safety checkpoints every couple weeks looking for drunk drivers, making sure that everyone on the road is wearing seat belts and have driver's insurance.
The Huntsville Police Department is able to put on these checkpoints because of a grant from the state's traffic safety office.
The grant expires at the end of this month, but police said they'll have two more checkpoints before then.
Huntsville Police said they will release the number of tickets, arrests, and impounds from the checkpoint later Friday morning.
