MADISON, AL (WAFF) -
Crews responded to a major house fire on Chad Lane in Madison in the Chadrick Subdivision around 4:45 p.m.
When
firefighters arrived, the smoke and flames were coming from the home. Officials
said the smoke could be seen from Old Madison Pike.
Firefighters
said it didn't take long for the fire to spread through the house.
Fire
officials said they were concerned someone was in the home.
"After
speaking with neighbors, they say there's a van that's usually parked and it
was gone, plus the door was locked. We had to kick it in to get inside,"
said Captain Doug Hill with Madison Fire Department. "So that made us feel
a little bit better. Then after a search, nobody was found."
Firefighters
spent the rest of the night monitoring hot spots.
They're
working to determine the cause of the fire.
