MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) -
Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore signed a court order closing Circuit and District Court offices across the state on Wednesdays beginning on March 20.
Employees will still report to work, but the offices will be closed to the public.
The order states the state of Alabama's judicial branch will come up around $13-million short for fiscal year 2013 and beyond.
The order states employees will report to work and leave work at their usual time on Wednesdays.
The clerks will set up a drop box - or similar system - to get time-sensitive filings.
WAFF 48 Legal Expert Mark McDaniel said this is a significant ruling.
The order does address judicial emergencies, like applications for arrest warrants, search warrants, restraining orders, and protections from abuse. Provisions will be established to handle those types of emergencies.
