DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
A Morgan County judge set an August 26 trial date for a Decatur man accused of killing his step-grandmother.
Investigators said Lorenzo Langford was living with the victim, 88-year-old Georgeann Sears, at the time of the murder.
Police found Sears in her home on 8th Avenue Northwest in Decatur in January 2010. She was rushed to the hospital, where she died.
Investigators said she had severe head injuries and a fractured spine.
Langford has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental defect.
